1. Weatherguard II™ Top
Made of one-piece polycarbonate material with UV additives. Retains shape and color, no maintenance required. Made of same material as F-16 fighter jet canopy. The Weatherguard II™ top is designed to withstand 90 MPH baseballs which provides armor-like protection to shield ice, leaves, and other debris. Directs noise and hot air upward, away from plants. Has improved airflow design for quiet operation and enhanced performance. Can easily and quickly remove top for service by removing only four screws.

2. Integrated flat top orifice
Improves airflow dynamics, enhancing performance. This innovative design also provides for quiet operation. Unique mounting of shaft down fan motor allows easy service by removing just four screws and wire harness.

3. Multi-stage outdoor fan motor
Designed to operate at low speed on mild cooling days and increases to high speed on very hot days. Provides much lower operation (sound ratings as low as 72 db), eight times lower than a standard unit.

4. Quick-Sess™ access for service and installation
Improved design allows very quick access to electrical control box, service valves, refrigerant components, compressor, coil, and fan system. 70% fewer fasteners allow faster access - a service and installer's delight. SureFast™ interlocking panel seams contain no mechanical fasteners or screws which allows for fast and easy access. Cabinet panels are easily secured to basepan with lock-in-place latches that provide quick access. With removal of two screws, louvered panel swings open like refrigerator door for service access to refrigerant components.

5. Refrigerant filter drier
Prolongs unit life and system reliability by keeping refrigerant clean, dry, and acid-free. Prevents circulation of particles such as copper oxide in refrigerant system (found when brazing lines to the valves) for greater durability. All XLi internal functional parts backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

6. Climatuff® Compressor
Designed, tested and built for reliability and durability. Every Climatuff® design is torture tested in our own System Extreme Environment Test (SEET) facility in the final application process. We test to deliver the most reliable unit possible. All XLi and XR Climatuff® compressors are backed by a 10-year limited warranty.

7. "Quiet" operating system
Ratings: XL1 as low as 72 db, 4-ton and under registered 76 db or less, and 5-ton registered 78 db. Sound insulator on some models.

8. All Aluminum Spine Fin™ Coil
Internally grooved, continuous tubes in each circuit help prevent refrigerant leaks while providing low airflow resistance and efficient heat transfer. Superior heat transfer means improved heating and cooling efficiencies and faster defrost on heat pump units. One-third the brazed joints of a comparable plate fin coil for fewer opportunities of leaks. Similar metal advantage between tube and fin provides greater corrosion resistance. Improved Spine Fin™ retains its efficiency longer than plate fin due to depth loading. If necessary, it's very easy to clean. So reliable, we back it with a 10-year limited warranty on the XLi and XR models.

9. Galvanized steel louvers
Improved design has more open louver area for improved efficiency and quieter operation. Cabinet is constructed of G90 galvanized steel. Full coil protection against hail, lawn care tools, golf balls and toys. Easy to remove all louver panels for cleaning or service. Designed for long-lasting durability.

10. External braze fittings
New improved design for easy accessibility and leak-free installation. Extended length of valve braze connections allows for improved brazing access and minimizes the opportunity of "burning" the cabinet. No special wrenches needed.

11. Powder Paint Finish
Blends well with any architectural style. Baked-on, porcelain-like powder paint covers surfaces uniformly increasing protection from rust and corrosion. All louvered panels are covered with powder paint. Corner post and top x-brace support utilize preprinted steel with powder paint durability. Unit cabinet withstands a 1,000 hours salt-spray test to simulate harsh conditions for long-term durability.

12. DuraTuff™ basepan
One-piece DuraTuff™ basepan is designed with a unique construction technique for extra support. The basepan is made of specially designed CMBP-G30 composite material which can support over 800 lbs. at the compressor mount location. New Design drains water completely, which helps unit last longer. Has mounting targets so it can be fastened to pad for increased security.
